Everything about Hofbr Uhaus totally explained
The
Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München (literally
state court-brewery in Munich, also
Hofbräu München) is a
brewery in
Munich,
Bavaria,
Germany, owned by the state government. The
Hof (
court) comes from the brewery's history as a royal brewery in the Kingdom of
Bavaria.
The brewery owns the
Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, the
Hofbräukeller, both not operated by the brewery, and the second largest tent at the
Oktoberfest (
Hofbräu-Festzelt). Its own brew, of course, is the only
beer served.
The Hofbräuhaus in Munich inspired a world wide famous song, and the phrase "oans, zwoa, g'suffa" (bavarian dialect for: "one, two, chug").
